Christian Wohlwend was named head coach of the U20 national team where he will succeed John Fust. He signed a two-year contract.

Wohlwend has been working for the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation as head coach of the U19 national team and assistant coach of the U20 national team since 2011. The last three years he has also been head coach of HC Lugano’s U20 team.

Wohlwend was originally foreseen as new head coach of Hockey Thurgau of the second-tier senior league NLB but an agreement was found to terminate his contract.

“The new task as U20 national team head coach fills me with pride. I’m convinced to develop the future national team players the best possible way,” Wohlwend said.
